Bangura back on target after tragedy

Sierra Leone’s new wonder kid, Mohamed Poboshy Bangura (in photo) was on target for his AIK side on Saturday in the Swedish Allsvnskanliga at home in front of 10,449 home fans in the 75min of play at the Råsunda Solna arena.

Two weeks ago, his wife had a miscarriage and yesterday was the funeral. Today Mohamed Bangura, 21, back on the football field – saved his AIK by winning vital points to avoid the drop.

AIK came to a crisis meeting at Råsunda to say the least, turbulent weeks behind because of Dulé Johnson scandal. Shortly before kickoff, it became official that Walid Atta – who has been in the freezer compartment since 8 August because of a contract dispute was once again back in the team starting line up.

In the AIK line-up was also Mohamed Bangura who was part of the Sierra Leone team that played 0-0 with South Africa in Freetown, he made a comeback on the Solna Stadium after a personal tragedy (October 3) just hours before AIK’s derby against Djurgarden. Bangura and wife Tata’s child’s life could not be saved during childbirth.

Alex Miller’s side firing eleven desperate for a result, shot on goal in the first half, but the effectiveness was missing and usually ended up balls on the North Stand. Gefle created virtually nothing.

After the break began AIK continued were they left of from the first half, but Gefle goalkeeper Mattias Hugosson was very instrumental until the 60th minute.  Then he dropped back to Niklas Backman’s free-kick and Goran Ljubojevic kept ahead of the game and pushed the rebound, for his first Premier league goal.

AIK continued to press and with one quarter left to full time, then come Mohamed Bangura – who had been spirited throughout the match – he put the ball into the net. He took down Flávio post, sending in 2-0 with the left. Bangura celebrated with shaping his hands like a heart.

The victory means that AIK, at least temporarily staying up on safe ground and puts pressure on the bottom of the competition. Gefle remains solid drilled below the line.
