Mosimane also made surprise changes from the squad that played against Niger in Bafana’s first match of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Nelspruit on October 4.
Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder-cum-striker was among the surprise changes, Moriri has earned a recall to the Bafana Bafana squad to play against Sierra Leone.
Mosimane explains why he kept the bulk of the team from the match against Niger that won 2-0. “I didn’t make too many changes, because I believe if it is not broken you don’t fix it,” he says. “We are going there for the three points… yes it is a difficult assignment, but we must adjust to the conditions there. We must play and don’t have excuses. We must bring home the results,” Mosimane adds.
Sierra Leone got a point away in their first qualifier match against Egypt in Cairo after the match finished 1-1 and Mosimane admits it will be a daunting task against the ‘Leone Stars’, who beat Bafana 1-0 the last time the South Africans played in Freetown on 14 June 2008, also in an Afcon qualifier.
Safa CEO Leslie Sedibe reveals Bafana might play in wet conditions in the West African country. “We will play at their national stadium and it is a rainy season in Sierra Leone at the moment,” Sedibe reveals.
