Sierra Veteran is the second Sierra Leonean Soccer team that plays in the American Soccer League of Arlington a State registered Division 1 league that plays in the state of Virginia.
According to coach Lahai Dumbuya this is his first season in the league and his team have been dominating it so far and he is impressed with the way his team is playing. We should have finished first on top of the table for the play off but we lost and tied one or two games that set us back, but I am happy with the result, he said.
Most of my players on this team are young talented Sierra Leoneans kids that have a bright future in football and mix with other players from different countries.
This league is very competitive, we have players that play professional football in other Spanish countries that play in this league and for me to bring in my young players and to be at this position that we are on the table is a good thing, but we are not taking it for granted because our aim is to win the trophy.
Round of 16 started this past weekend with a hard fight of goalless first half the team came back hard in 15 minutes, center forward Bash scored the first goal by sending the ball high over the goal keeper. The second goal came from central mid-fielder TONNY who hit the ball out from 25 yards to put the game away, this places him as the top goal scorer for the team with 12 goals. The team will play their away game this coming weekend on the 2nd October.
