SOS donates food items worth Le 20 M

The Herman Gmeiner also known as Save our Soul (SOS), an organization that helps street children, orphans and the disabled, has allocated food items worth Le 20 M to children living in Goderich.

At the Goderich Community Centre, SOS splashed out Le 20 million worth of food items ranging from beans, rice, vegetable oil, and palm oil, to communities around Goderich and the peninsular.

According to the SOS coordinator, Mrs. Theodora Wilkinson, she pleaded to the parents to use the items for the purpose they are intended.  She discouraged the idea of having parents sell the food items offered to them. She further told the parents that she normally gives clothing to children, but thought it wise to provide food items this time around.

In an interview with the Coordinator of the National Family Strengthen Programme, Mr. Deona Williams, he said they give food support quarterly to supplement the international sponsor’s efforts.

He also said that five communities that benefited from the donations are Gbendembu, Sherbro Town and communities in central Freetown.

The beneficiaries thanked SOS for their laudable gesture.
