What can they really tell us?

What can they really tell us?

Oh my goodness! What is all the current frenzy about? EBK’s ministers are almost in a state of panic trying to present their achievements to a people who have grown weary of rhetoric. One would have thought that in the last week to give an account of their stewardship, the ministers would be beaming with genuine confidence by merely saying to us, “Just look around and notice the difference? See what we have given you in just three years compared with the SLPP’s dismal performance of 11 years?”  (Photo: Dr. Sama Banya)

But no. I B Kargbo must criss-cross the country to emphasise what plans President Koroma has for Sierra Leone. That ought to be left to the Supremo himself to do in his “state of the nation address” on September 17. I B has even promised the people of Bo and Kenema that next April the generating capacity of power for the Bo/Kenema Power Services BKPS would be increased from 4Mega to 6Mega Watts.

This is where the confused state of some of President Koroma’s ministers is coming to the surface. In 2006, former President Tejan-Kabbah commissioned the new Capacity of the Goma hydro dam with an additional TWO Turbines, thus bringing the total number to FOUR, each with a capacity of 1.5 Mega Watts,  giving a total capacity of SIX Mega WATTS. How many times does minister Kargbo have to raise the same capacity to 6 Mega watts, if it was not just another of his over used propaganda gimmicks?

The minister of education youth and sports Minkailu Bah has never seen anything to praise in the educational record of his versatile, forward looking and action oriented predecessor Alpha Wurie. He was at it again on Tuesday evening when he gave the impression that the education system was in shambles at the time the SLPP left office in 2007.  And yet the system produced graduates and professionals who have made this country proud. Just look at our doctors; other countries simply can’t wait to lure them away to greener pastures.

What does the APC’s self-proclaimed vastly knowledgeable and productive minister have to say about our law and engineering graduates, that they are mediocre?

The Italian oil company has an eye-catching advertising gimmick that I have always admired and enjoyed reading. It says, “Change your oil not our engine.”

Minister Bah spent most of 2009 chasing ghosts- teachers, schools supporting staff and so on rather than encouraging and improving the lot of teachers. The outcome was a dismal school public examination results. He set up a commission to look into the school system which has made some far reaching recommendations. The main one is to change from the 6-3-3-4 to 6-3-4-4 entailing an extra year in secondary school. The local head of the West Africa Examination Council Sheriff Sapateh has endorsed the recommendation. But both the minister and Sapateh agree that the BECCE, NPSE and WASCE examination results for20 10 are a considerable improvement on those 0f 2009. So what is responsible, the system or the wherewithal? The oil or the engine? A real paradox.

Instead of straining themselves to paint a false and exaggerated picture of their achievements at 36 months, all the APC must do is to tell us how the country has been turned around, how it has been rebranded, the price of a bag of rice, the exchange rate of the United States dollar, the Euro and the pound sterling against the Leone; the state of armed robberies, the results of the ACC’s prosecution of the Nassit ferries, GST receipt books, the investigation into the conduct of the Commissioner-General of the NRA,  the India rice with its duty waver, attempted COHMAS cover-up, the transport fare to Makeni or Kenema. The regional balance in governance, the office of Diaspora, the general cost of living. All these in spite of new powers to the ACC, should be the show case of the APC at 36 months.

Yes, “what you are speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say.

  • pa who, you sound really boring .Repeating yourself over and over and over again . I said it before and I will say it again you can only fool your people or party followers . This govt you are trying to sabotage has ,and is faring better that SLPP in many aspect . Its a shame the pa is trying to destroy his son because his son is doing better . This govt belongs to the people unlike SLPP which belong to ignorant and arrogant elites only to see it followers as serfs .Praises are coming from all over the world for this govt and it stands for developments nation wide . You never deliver in all aspect you have served this nation other than looting it . I wonder what your people will write about you when you are long gone . more like a failed leader trying to emerge as a leftist in other to gain popularity from the fools . When you talk about rice prices , in what way SL control the market trend . Is this only happening in SL ? SL is faring by far in the west coast . If rice is cheaper in neighbouring country .why are your people smuggling it to conakry . Be logical . Give us more substance in your criticism or sabotage I should say . I would not waist my time to counter your point step by step ,like I said you can fool some people but you cant fool us anymore . Our knowledge exceeds way beyond that type of politics nowadays . Generation like ours we need practical developments not beraucratic institution for educated criminals. As a farmer I need good roads . Do not tell me what you were plannig to do but never does. Like the construction of the targrin bridge , you remeber that one . I am still waiting to do a marathon on it . Fake preachers. We need result not theatrical statements. Bad looser and cry baby bunchs . The satanic bunch ,who are trying by all evil means to bring that nation down . Shame on you as you have done a diserve to your nation despite the faith your people have shown on you before . Can somebody tell me what the use of having a Phd if it end produce is nay .BKPS has been in existence for quite a long time now ,yet there are not enough cables even to electrify its urban areas with all the power it generates . This is first hand reporting because I visited those place. What a bunch of think tanks developer with no marketing strategies. I shoul have counter all the claims you made but I do not want to follow your footpath . Cause your foot step has no fruitful legacies to learn from .HEY HOW ABOUT GIVE BACK YOUR LOOT TO THE NATION. Step to minimise God’s punishment awaiting your likes . Educated thieves .

  • Ok, Pa Sama, lets assume they cannot really tell us anything. I believe you were in the Sierra Leonean political scene
since the 1970s. So my question is Pa, What can you really tell us? What positive results can you claim to have achieved since you have been in politics? I respectfully advise you Pa, take a sincere look at your past and present record in the Sierra Leonean political scene and if you cannot find any positives,(and i strongly believe you won’t find any), keep quiet and let people work for Sierra Leone. Stop trying to pull them down. “Yes, “what you are speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say.”
