Le1.2 billion for pipe borne water for Port Loko District

The Government of Sierra Leone has given Le1.29 billion to the Port Loko district council.

An inside source in the council intimated to this medium that the Chief Administrator, Abdul Koroma in a council sitting disclosed that since 1995 the Port Loko township has not been enjoying pipe borne water, a major problem that confronted the people.

He disclosed further that through the help of the council they have been able to source funding from the government for the purpose of providing pipe borne water for the district.

Outlining the current status of major projects undertaken by the council, the C.A noted that the River Rokel Bridge that will benefit people of the Lunsar and the Mashimrah chiefdom will be completed in a not too distant future. The determination of the council to provide electricity was also highlighted by the Chief Administrator, Abdul Koroma.

According to him, the survey has been concluded and engineers contracted. Mr. Abdul Barrie, one of the engineers contracted to re-supply pipe borne water to the town disclosed that a survey has proved a lot of damage was done to the plant, noting that the money budgeted will not be enough for the project.
