Attempted Murder – Ex-Service Man Committed To High Court
Ex-service personnel, Sergeant Sheik Gibril Sesay of Hagan Street in the east of Freetown was, was yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Steven Conteh of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 for attempting to murder Baimba Turay.
According to the charge sheet, the incident took place on the 2nd October 2009 at No. 5 Magazine Street off Guard Street in Freetown.
The complainant, Baimba Turay who was in charge of the public toilet at Magazine wharf encountered the accused, Sheik Gibril Sesay at the residence one of his friends, Dura Koroma where an argument ensued between the two over rum during which the issue of the public toilet came up.
The accused told the complainant to hand over the toilet to young people which the complainant refused to do.
Report says the compliant was retuning home when the accused surprisingly stabbed him on his right hand, his chest and throat causing paralysis of the complainant’s right hand.
Upon committing the offense, the accused went on the run but was later arrested and charged with the offence of attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm and wounding.
The accused was refused bail and the matter committed to the high court for further trial.
