Salone Re-hosts African Governors

The Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Dr. Samura Kamara  (in photo) last week disclosed to journalists that since Sierra Leone is the chair for the Heads of African Ministers and Bank Governors of the African Union, the country will host for the second time the African Caucus, starting from Monday, 16th to Tuesday 17t August 2010 at the Miatta Conference Hall, Brookfields in Freetown.

Dilating on the programme of events, the minister disclosed that the first day will include an opening session focusing on matters such as the economic outlook of sub Saharan Africa and resource management, among others.

The second day, the minister went on,  will be a strictly closed door affair dealing with constitutional matters, adding that during the close door meeting, Sierra Leone and the Mano River Union countries will hold bilateral meetings to identify regional programmes such as infrastructure, energy and water exploitation.

He said two major international donors, UNDP and the World Bank, will be making statements. The UNDP will present a paper on how the UNDP as an international organisation will assist to better manage African countries resource while the World Bank will identify special programmes for African countries, and the African Development Bank will present a talk on problems of Africa to access World Bank resources.

Dr. Samura informed journalists that forty-five Finance Ministers and Bank Governors are expected to participate in the two-day meeting. Their presence here will demonstrate to the whole world that Sierra Leone as a country is more than stable and a gem for investment.
