SLAJ nominates new member to SLBC Board
Freetown – The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists has nominated Ibrahim Karim-Sei to the Board of Trustees of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).
The nomination which took place at a General Meeting today follows the rejection by Parliament of Dr Julius Spencer to represent the association on the SLBC Board.
The meeting, however, resolved that the reasons for Dr Spencer’s rejection by Parliament should be pursued as none has so far been communicated.
“We regret Parliament’s decision to reject Dr Spencer especially without making known any reasons for such,” says SLAJ President, Umaru Fofana. “But we hope the House will find time to speed up Mr Karim-Sei’s nomination while also letting us know the reasons for Dr Spencer’s rejection” he adds.
Mr Karim-Sei has been a journalist for several years. He was Editor of Standard Times Newspaper and is the immediate past National Secretary-General of SLAJ.
