2 Sierra Leoneans Meet Top Saudi Officials

Sheik Mohamed Abdul Zackie Kallon, President of the Sierra Leone Missionary Union and Alhaji Madani Kabba-Kamara, Secretary General of the United Council of Imams yesterday ended the three-day conference at the MWL headquarters under the slogan: the “MWL… Reality and Future Prospects”.
Conference opened by Prince Naif
The conference which started on Saturday, 31st July, 2010, according to the Sierra Leonean attendees, was officially opened by Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
The conference, they went on, attracted a good number of Muslim Scholars, Preachers and Heads of Islamic organizations from all over the world. The conference, they said, reviewed the achievements of the MWL and assessed its activities and programs with a view to upgrading its functions.
They added that the conference focused on various topics, including, MWL’s contributions in the past 50 years to some countries in the world, (including Sierra Leone); MWL’s efforts to establish a better future for Muslim communities, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Sheik Zackie and Alhaji Madani said on the phone that: “MWL has been very helpful to Sierra Leone over the years in the area of education, medical and humanitarian assistance, to name but a few.”
MWL Scribe’s Visit To Sierra Leone
It would be recalled that the Secretary General of the MWL, Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdul Mohsin Al-Turki visited Sierra Leone from 3rd – 6th May, 2009 and assured government of his organization’s support to community development projects in the country.
VP Sumana’s Take On The Visit
During that visit, the Vice President, Alhaji Sam Sumana called for more cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Sierra Leone. The VP assured the MWL scribe that his government was determined to cooperate with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in general and the Muslim World League in particular in all areas relating to religious, humanitarian and community development.
About The MWL
The Muslim World League (MWL) or “Rabitat al-Alam al-Islami” in Arabic has its headquarters in the holy city of Mecca. It was founded by Muslim religious figures from 22 States, under the auspices of the late King Faisal Ibn Abdulaziz Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia.
The league promotes the cause of Islam throughout the world by holding conferences, distributing classical Islamic texts and modern religious publications and working with various countries through their Missionaries.
