Money ‘Wa-ha-lah’ is the bedrock of corruption everywhere
Money is problem, is the bedrock of bad attitudes, embezzlements, misappropriations, frauds, showing off and living in the expense of government coffers, driving luxurious cars and etc., are the orders of the day, Dat-nor-Good! I salute and I thank you very much His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, for taking these colossal moves to curve and minimize this epidemic syndrome of corruption. The fore-fathers of our land will surely bless and commend you for a job well done.
I am not going to hide this from you, before President Ernest Bai Koroma took office in 2007, I got a phone call from my nephew. I was mystified, when my thirteen year old boy from Freetown called me. He had to testify it all to me over the phone before the presidential run-offs. This little boy is a brilliant and amazing handsome lad, who has the passion as a young man that is eating his ego. He detests the idea of ever becoming a failure, greedy or illiterate. He has, on many occasions encountered misfortunes and mishaps, especially when money is mentioned in his daily financial transactions. This is another of those long held beliefs that many of us subscribe to today in Sierra Leone.
Money trouble, greed and power are the epidemic syndrome of corruption in our society. We may have been carrying it with us all our lives without even realizing we are doing so. This belief could have stemmed from an experience that our parents or friends had, and so it is passed on through the generations. Even though today, we may know that this is a belief that no longer serves us, at some subconscious level it could still be preventing us from creating the wealth we are entitled to. Do you have any idea where it could be impacting your life now?
Comrade, let’s take an inside look at where you are right now in our daily activities in other departments. Is anyone happy and fulfilled in every area of his or her life? I’ll take a guess and say that you may have some room for improvement somewhere, as otherwise you wouldn’t be able to read this article. You are reading this article because at some level, you are attracted to this information. You are open and ready to learn new concepts on how to create a better life for yourself in some way. If you currently do not have the wealth you want, let’s take a look at some of the beliefs that could be preventing you from achieving this wealth. See laziness and welcome the failure to try.
Furthermore, you may have grown up in a household where there was very little money to be used and you really want to be like Mike. At the same time, you were constantly being bombarded with the statement that money doesn’t grow on trees, we can’t afford it, money isn’t everything etc. There could have been arguments over some of these issues. Maybe you had your heart set on a car that everyone else had but your parents couldn’t afford to buy one for you. Some of these issues probably left you feeling very upset, stressed and humiliated. Your emotions would probably have come into the equation and possibly left a permanent scar deep in your subconscious. Once the emotions become involved, it can then lead to all sorts of issues where you may find you now link pain to money without even realizing you are doing so. When all is tight, then you become a thief and a corrupt individual.
As I grew older, it took me a long time to realize that I was still so busy pretending that my parents were wealthy that I had no motivation or time left to actually create my own wealth. Believe me, it was arduous and backbreaking in keeping up that pretence. But of course, I kept repeating the habit and continued to get back exactly what I focused my attention on. Money was in everybody’s mind.
To my candid opinion, most of us have grown up being conditioned to believe that, for some reason it is wrong to be wealthy. We keep self sabotaging our success because of these underlying beliefs and if we don’t learn to change the way we think, we have created our enemies. We deserve to be rich and we embezzle government funds to please our love ones. To live our lives in prosperity is so much more fun than living a life of constant struggle and poverty. We can do so much more for ourselves, and the best part of it all is the satisfaction you will feel by helping others to realize that they too can do the same. Money is the root of all corruption.
