A staggering $21 million investment is set to transform Zain Africa outfit as the 6th largest telecommunication company in the world, Bharti Airtel takes over its operations to bring in more juice, innovation and many affordable services that are apparently absent in the country’s telecommunication industry.

Sierra Express Media learnt yesterday 7th July, when the international Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Bharti Airtel, Manoj Kholi visited the country and reiterated his company’s long-term commitment to the growth of the telecommunications sector in Sierra Leone.

In a press conference at the Miatta Conference Centre in Freetown, the International CEO and joint Managing Director told journalists that Bharti is committed to offering affordable services, deep network coverage and distribution backed by a superior brand experience in customer care initiatives in not just Sierra Leone but the whole of Africa.

Whilst Bharti will be in Sierra Leone to improve on the state of telecommunications in the country, the visiting CEO also said “we are here for the long-run and want to be a partner in the growth story of Sierra Leone.”

He noted that the Bharti plan is to bring an ecosystem of global partners to Sierra Leone which will result into additional employment opportunities.

According to him, the company will introduce its global corporate social responsibility programme in Sierra Leone under which he said it will set up schools that offer free quality education to underprivileged children in rural areas.
