YAI Boost Kono Youth
A non-governmental organization, Youth Action International (YAI) over the weekend boosted youths in the Kono District by empowering them through agriculture as they also will be contributing towards food security drive which is one of the dreams of President Koroma in his agenda for change.
In presenting the items, Doland Kalokoh Country Representative of YAI, said that the project is a pilot phase as they want to divert the attention of youths from mining to agriculture that will provide them income for their live hood.
The youth were presented, bushels of rice and a huge amount of groundnut, Okra, pepper, Cucumber corn and punkin seeding for them to start their faming
The district youth secretary General Melvin Allieu commended the effort of YAI and said this is the kind of organization they are expecting in the Kono district, and pray that the seed which has been given to them will be use for its intended purpose and hope that other organizations will follow in the footsteps of YAI in empowering the youth as they are the future leaders.
YAI district officer Mr. Fandey lauded Mr Kalokoh for a dream come true and hoped that such project will continue within the Kono district
He also called on the youth to embrace agriculture as it is the shortest way of positively changing their lives
However the project was supported by HUB based in the united state of America statement were also made by other speakers.
