I J Kabbah Hails Female Presidential Candidate
The wife of late President Alhaji Ahmed Tejan Kabbah, Isata Jabbie Kabbah commonly known as I J Kabbah has stated that she believes in the presidential candidate for the Unity Party (UP) as the only woman to have taken such a bold step in contesting the March 7th 2018 crucial election.
Speaking in Freetown to the Sierra Express Media (SEM) during the convention and launching of the party’s manifesto, the former First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone said the name of the party signifies peace and called on supporters to throw their weight behind Madam Femi Claudius Cole.
She claimed that women are peaceful and good managers than men and emphasized that 2018 is a year for women and sensitized colleague folks that if they don’t stand up and support themselves as women, they will have little representation in political powers.
Launching the manifesto, Rev. Ethel Gauge elaborated that Sierra Leone is blessed with minerals and prophesized that there is possibility of prosperity in the Unity Party.
She stated that women are the breadwinners in most families and cautioned young people to behave well and be productive because they are the leaders of today and tomorrow.
She lauded Madam Cole for such an initiative for the fact that she said, it is not easy to establish a political party.
“We are watching you our hopeful President for prosperity and progress”, said the woman of God and proclaimed that God has good things in store for Madam Cole.
She therefore called on the general public to build up the party through robust support and she officially launched the manifesto.
A youth representative named Jose Mourinho assured Madam Cole that she has the young people support country wide and prayed that she will bless in her undertakings because she has good vision for the development of the country.
The Chairperson of the occasion, Dr. Nemata Majeks Walker described manifesto as a document comprises the principles of the party and continued that the Unity Party manifesto covered lot of areas like good governance, foreign policy and national security among others.
She said the party is ready and willing to take care of all sectors of life in the country and assured participants that all what is written in the manifesto will be implemented according to the due process of the law.
The President for All Political Parties Women Association (APPWA), Madam Augusta called on women in various political parties to be tolerance and embrace each other to foster unity.
She said they wanted women to be part of any decision making process adding that APPWA always think and talk about the prosperity of women and disclosed that he organization doesn’t come to take power from men but to work side by side with them at any point in time.
