Fire force officers in action in Central Freetown

Speaking at the closing ceremony which took place at the Victoria Park, the National Fire Force Officer, Kamanda Bongay whiles addressing the National Fire Force Men and Women who took part in the exercise commended the Freetown City Council for working with them through the public sensitization.

He noted that the National Fire Force deem it fit to work with the Freetown City Council and councilors as an added support to help fight against fire incidents in the city, and that they are ready to take stands against any form of fire incidents.

He also commended the Hon. Minister of Internal Affair, J B Dauda for his support towards the fire fight sensitization including the operational team who at the same time whiles the public sensitization was going on, and they were also training fire force personnel on how to put down any form of fire incidence.

The Chief Fire fighter also uses the opportunity to inform them that government has release applications form for capable individuals to forward their application to join the National Fire Force in 2014 and that from December next month, personnel will be receiving a bag of rice per month.

The Chief Administrator of the Freetown City Council, John A. Conteh on behalf of His Worship thanked the personnel for going through the training and informed that that even though they are lucky to access to join the NFF, their job is a bit difficult consideration the population in the city, and that most fire incidents in the city as caused by the careless hand work of people, although we should thank God again as in some developed countries a lot of national disaster is taking place, destroying lives and properties, but such is not happening in Africa.

Councilor Ahmed Samba Turay of ward 386 who was coordinating between City Council and Fire Force for the sensitization said that the training will have to go a long way in terms of their skills and professionalism in putting out fire. He also said that the council is very happy to collaborate with them for the training and sensitization.
