For Cruelty to Child…Mother Sent to Jail
Adama Lamin of 17 Nicol Terrace, Wellington, Freetown, on Wednesday 5 December, 2012 appeared before Magistrate Komba Kamanda of the Freetown Magistrate Court No2 with One Count Charge of Cruelty to Children.
Adama, is reported to have dumped a six month old baby, Mariama, in a toilet pit on Wednesday 31st October in a manner likely causing unnecessary suffering to the child.
The Defense Lawyer I.P Minnie applied for bail on the grounds that it is the first time the accused is standing trial before a competent court, but was denied bail owing to the gravity of the offence.
The accused person is remanded at the Pademba Road Maximum Prison facility and the matter was adjourned.
