Dr. Macarthy a Sierra Leone Nationalist…

Sierra Leonean businessman, Dr. Mohamed Tunde Macarthy (in photo), has positioned a radio station, security agency, pure plastic water facility and a series of health centers in communities around and outside Portee in the east end of Freetown.

Dr. Macarthy (in photo), who has a PhD in medicine, FNP, MSN BSN made his return to Sierra Leone after a long and successful stay in the United States.

His homecoming brought to the doorsteps of Portee residents, a radio station, medical facilities and the  pure water tagged ‘Tumac Water’ at cheap and affordable prices.

Dr. Macarthy has employed a considerable number of youths and has been rendering help to the vulnerable.

“Though my stay in the US was fine and well, each time I am on a visit to Sierra Leone, I feel pain seeing youths idly roaming the streets of Freetown,” Dr. Macarthy said.

“It is as a result of this that I have resorted into setting up businesses that create jobs for the youths.”

Dr. Macarthy is also the owner and executive director of Allied Health Academy in New Jersey U.S.A.

He started business in Sierra Leone as an estate agent and has grown to higher and diversified ranks.

Dr. Macarthy now owns a series of health care centers, pure water production centers, and a radio station – Tumac Radio 89.3.

Dr. Macarthy disclosed that he is on the verge of providing a television station that will supply the whole of Sierra Leone.

It was also revealed that 30 Sierra Leoneans have been benefiting scholarship awards from him, and that 10 medical and engineering students continue to enjoy support from Dr Macarthy; a Sierra Leonean nationalist.

In an interview with Dr. Macarthy, he disclosed that he came from a very poor home and has gone through sufferings.

“Knowing what suffering is, I feel pain when I see youths roaming the streets having nothing to do,” he said.

“It has always been my dream to search for what we lack in Sierra Leone and import the same for the benefit of the general good.

“Sierra Leone is totally different from countries the world over. To me, the way forward should be educational empowerment,” he emphasized.

Dr. Macarthy also told this press that the advent of the setting up of a Radio station (Tumac 89.9) was due to a request from the people of Portee communities.

It must be noted however that apart from the setting up of a community radio station, and health centers, he has provided clean, pure and affordable water at cost recovery.

Tumac pure water has 10 different outlets both within and outside of Freetown.

“Because I am a medical man, and I know the importance of good health, I am proud to say that I am using six filters to purify ‘Tumac pure water’ before filling them into packets for market consumption,” he said.

“While others used three filters I use six. I am also using UV Light which kills bacteria in water unrestrictedly.”

Dr. Macarthy concluded that he is also rendering security services at cheap and reasonable rates.
