First Syrian trade exhibition launched
What a colorful moment at the Miatta Conference Hall after the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Mrs. Mabinty Daramy (in photo)Â launched the first Trade Fair Exhibition organized by the Tamatas Industrial Company, a Syrian owned company that produces carpets, furniture, materials used for clothing, perfumes, technological equipment like music systems, sewing machines and the likes, on Monday 31st May 2010 an exhibition which will last for three weeks and ends 20th June 2010.
Speaking on behalf of the Tamatas Industry Mr. Philip Lujang expressed that the three week trade fair would create the enabling environment where the Tamatas company will showcase their quality products to the people of Sierra Leone. He added that Tamatas has been operating in East Central Africa and that Sierra Leone is the first West African country that would be benefiting from this trade fair. Mr. Lujang stated that the trade fair will strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
In extending his profound thanks and appreciation to the government of Sierra Leone, Mr. Lujang also thanked the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Finance Ministry for their kind support in making the exhibition a success.
Mrs. Mabinty Daramy the deputy Minister of Trade and Industry disclosed that the trade fair will enhance the sharing of products between the two countries as Sierra Leoneans will have the opportunity to buy Syrian products and the Syrians would in return buy our raw materials to maximize the production of more goods. She added that Sierra Leone is a safe country that can now boast of a secure environment to do any kind of business as the government has made a lot of reforms within the trade industry to attract investors into the country.
On the part of the Syrian Consul in Sierra Leone Mr. Husscian Alie Jaward who is also the proprietor of Family Kingdom at Lumley Beach, noted that Syrian products are the best in the world as most of their products are being sold in many of the big markets in the world. He disclosed that presently, over 400 Sierra Leonean students are living in Syria, and he confirmed that they have the most vibrant students’ union association in Syria.
