After “Successful Meeting” with Saudi Authorities… “Hajj” Delegation Returns to Freetown
Head of Sierra Leone’s Hajj delegation to Saudi Arabia who doubles as Minister of Labour, Social Security and Employment has described his meeting with the Kingdom’s Hajj Minister, Dr. Fouad Bin Abdul Salam Al-Farsy as “very successful.”
Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray (in photo) Â made the disclosure in a brief telephone interview with the Information Bureau of the Sierra Leone Embassy shortly before he left King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah, last Sunday.
The minister said they had made arrangements and requirements relating to the affairs of Sierra Leonean pilgrims among other vital issues. He further disclosed the signing of a contract agreement with the Hajj minister in preparation for the 2010 Hajj in the presence of members of his delegation and representatives of the Hajj ministry. The Labour Minister promised to give details of the contracts after briefing the appropriate authorities in Freetown.
Mr. Mansaray’s delegation which was composed of the Special Assistant, Office of the President, Alhaji Mohamed S. Kargbo, Chairman, Hajj Committee, Sheik Abubakar Conteh and former Chairman for 2009 Hajj Committee, Sheik Ahmed Tejan Sillah, arrived here on Monday, May 17th 2010 on the invitation of the Saudi Hajj Ministry in respect of arrangements for this year’s Hajj season which is expected to officially commence on 14th November, 2010.
However, the Ambassador, H.E. Wusu Munu was deputized by First Secretary, Eric B. Gamanga.
For their part, an official attached to the Maazar Street Hajj head office in Riyadh said had started making arrangements for the comfort and safety of all pilgrims to the holy sites of Makkah, Madinah, Mina and Arafat.
“We are working on mechanisms aimed at enabling pilgrims to perform their Hajj rituals easily and comfortably,” he stressed.
The Ministry of Hajj is the authority that is concerned with the implementation of the State policy connected with the Muslim pilgrimage, “Hajj.” It is the axial government body that coordinates with all government authorities and sectors that are concerned with “Hajj” and “Umrah”. It also coordinates and makes arrangements with the officials of some Islamic countries, heads of Hajj Missions or their representatives.
In a related development, former Sierra Leone’s envoy to Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Germany and now Development Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Ambassador at-large, Umaru B. Wurie, is currently leading a four-man delegation to Saudi Arabia on an official visit.
