Another Civil War Kailahun Cries!
The People of Kailahun have envisaged the start of another civil strife in the country due to what they refer to as undue marginalization of the district in terms of development endeavors carried out in the country by the new All People Congress (APC) dispensation. A senior citizen in the district, Mr. Barbar A. Ngobeh said that the marginalization and discrimination did not come as a surprise to them owing to what occurred in the past general election; however he said “we are not worried about all of this,” but according to him “the nation may experience another civil strife if no action is taken to put the hopeless neglect under control.”
He noted that “we share boundaries with the two neighboring countries with which we will transact businesses. We also have the most fertile land in the country for agricultural purposes. We can also grow our own food. But this country is ours.” Mr. Ngobeh said what is making the situation worse is the sacking of sons and daughters of the district from government offices since this regime started. “We accepted the election results for the sake of peace which we have no intention to break, but that does not mean that the people of this land should be taken for granted.”
“Thousands of us in this district were disenfranchised in the past elections as our votes were voided for crimes for which no criminals are put behind bars” he said.Â
Kailahun where the 11 year civil started is believed to be one of the most affected areas both in terms of human and infrastructural development in the country.
