This summer, as dozens of Sierra Leoneans across the United States are expected to toss their caps in the air and light candles to celebrate their Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorial degrees, the Dallas Fort Worth metropolis’s own Christian Sesay, one of the finest writers for on line newspapers is among the first to be honored for exceptional academic output. Following his first masters (MBA), Christian set forth his priorities putting education at the top of his agenda to specialize in another area of career accomplishment in Human Resource management so as to make him more marketable. Today, he has achieved that dream and we salute him.

The Sierra Leonean community in the metropolitan area along with scores of family and friends from across the United States joined him to celebrate and recognize the significance of that achievement when they converged at the Ballroom on Saturday for a dinner and dance.

The word elegance and class is an understatement to describe the graduation dinner that was thrown in his honor at the Ballroom in Hurst, Texas on Saturday, May 22nd, 2010. The event themed “Night of Elegance” is so far arguably the finest in the Sierra Leonean community this year and one of the best ever in Texas. Chris’ workmates, who were approximately close to hundred from the Fort Worth Independent School District, showed up in a grand style in support of a workmate they see as humble and easy to get along.

The impact of Christian’s achievements does not only depend on academic struggles he endured but also on our country’s reputation of once being the Athens of Africa. In his thankful speech, Chris said that, he frequently asks himself how to tell Sierra Leoneans about the persistence and energy needed to sustain ones prosperity goal. He further attributed his success to the values that were ingrained in him during the early years of his life.
