SLCB and AFRIMONEY re-launch Bank to Wallet Service
In line with the Bank of Sierra Leone’s Deepening Financial Inclusion policy, Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB) in partnership with Afrimoney on Friday 21st May, 2021 re-launched Afrimoney’s Bank to Wallet, Wallet to Bank service at the bank’s Head Office, Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown.
Afrimoney Bank to Wallet is a modern and convenient electronic money service channel affording Afrimoney customers the opportunity to make money transfers from their SLCB Account to and from Afrimoney wallet.
Speaking at the re- launch ceremony, SLCB Managing Director, Abdul Fidelis Turay disclosed that this service was initially launched two years ago but his bank and Afrimoney have both revamped the entire platform to better serve the market.
He said that SLCB and Afrimoney are committed to strengthen the partnership in a bid to address the financial inclusion problem in Sierra Leone.
According to him, the service has been literally a life saver for some of their mutual customers as there is a growing hunger by the people of this country to be able to conduct financial transactions securely and efficiently from the convenience of their palms wherever they are.
He said that the Bank to Wallet service and vice versa platform proves to be the vehicle that provides people with not just the convenience of being able to conduct financial transactions anywhere and at any time using their mobile phones, but also to enjoy the security that these institutions provide.
“SLCB continues to invest in our digital infrastructure to ensure that we meet the demands of our customers while contributing to the socio-economic growth of the nation. We do this through partnerships with other market leaders such as Afrimoney, and in such a way that customers are left wondering how they had lived without the service before. It is a proud moment today that we are here to open up a more robust platform than we initially started with, and one that can carry both our institutions further as we continue to close the gap between the banked and the unbanked population,” SLCB MD averred.
He further expressed excitement to partner with Afrimoney and equally eager to see an exponential growth in the use of the service and an increase in customer satisfaction as a result of the efforts both teams have put into the project.
Director of Afrimoney, Massa Mason Denis expressed gratitude to partner with SLCB, the biggest bank in Sierra Leone. She further underscored the significance of the partnership saying such an alliance is designed to reach out large customers.
She said that the partnership is mutually beneficial as the two institutions are both giants in the communication and banking industry and it would increase customer and revenue base.
