APC Breathe Sigh of Relief
The long awaited and yearned for ruling on the matter between three members of the National Reformation Movement of the opposition All Peoples Congress Party led by Minkailu Koroma and the party leadership was delivered 25th February 2021 in the High Court of Sierra Leone by presiding Judge, Justice Kamanda, much to the relief of a majority of party members. The ruling lifted an injunction against the party, paving the way for the holding of planned conventions and National Delegates Conference.
Among other things, the ruling that “the originating notice of motion herein dated the 15th day January, 2020 is hereby struck out” and “that the injunction hitherto granted by the court in respect of this matter is hereby vacated”.
Many observers see this clearance as a slap in the face for party operatives bent on manipulating the affairs of the party to give undue vantage position to their favoured candidate for flagbearer in the 2023 presidential and parliamentary elections.
All is now set for the National Advisory Committee (NAC) of the party to summon an urgent meeting to determine the holding of the suspended emergency National Delegates Conference for the adoption of the new constitution and endorsement of reinstated members of the party foremost among them, former vice president Alhaji Chief Sidique Sam Sumana, who is also aspiring for flagbearer.
