SLPP Wastes One Year Chasing Shadows
It is no gainsaying that the only tangible work the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) Government led by the former junta leader, Brig. Rtd. Julius Maada Bio, has been doing since coming to power a year ago is the calumny against past government officials of the now main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC). The SLPP, to a very large extent, have forgotten what Sierra Leoneans voted them for by continuously chasing empty shadows in the name of fighting corruption which to a very a large extent only targets members of the opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) and hence, has turned out to be a dead end.
Even after making several attempts in its enterprise to tarnish the character of the past government to the gullible Sierra Leonean including cooking up what most Sierra Leoneans regarded as a ‘Roto Rata’ Government Transition Team Report to demean the former government, setting up of a widely regarded ‘witch hunt’ Commissions of Inquiry among others have failed, the Sierra Leone Peoples Party Government has againg come up with another report which many people have referred to as a ‘Joblo Jabla’ report aiming at distracting the attention of the masses on the SLPP’s woeful failure in its one year of governance.
It could be recalled that after that bogus and highly flawed GTTR was launched, SLPP government officials and their sympathizers were all over the media and in every nook and cranny of the country castigating members of the past administration and calling them all sorts of names such as ‘ayampis, ‘state thieves’, ‘criminal racketeers’ among others. Against that backdrop, President Maada Bio therefore heeded to the recommendations of the GTTR by setting up three commissions of inquiry to look into the damning allegations made in the report.
Even though the said commissions of inquiry had been set up in controversial circumstances, the revelations so far made at the COIs have been vindicating the past administration from the erroneous allegations made by the GTTR. An even more disastrous situation for the SLPP is that the much trumpeted GTTR which in fact was the reason for the COIs and which it had heavily relied on before the commencement of the commissions cannot be presented as evidence against persons of interest because of the blatant and wicked lies that are contained in the report.
Feeling defeated in it numerous efforts to discredit, tarnish and nail the APC, the SLPP has again come up with yet another report referred to as Forensic Technical Audit Report which also claimed that a whopping sum of over $1 billion dollars was squandered by the past administration in just three years between 2015-2018.
This latest report, according to many Sierra Leoneans, is not fallacious but a mere distraction gimmicks employed by the SLPP to cover up for its failed one year in office.
Many Sierra Leoneans especially the ordinary masses now believe that the Sierra Leone Peoples Party Government has just wasted a whole year in governance doing nothing other than chasing the empty shadows of opposition members.
