Due to Continuous Neglect by SLPP Government Doctors Down Tools Indefinitely
It could be vividly recalled that Sierra Express Media (SEM) published an article in conjunction with the concerns raised by Junior Doctors on the 9th November, 2018, in line with improved conditions of service as their current status is appalling and devastating. In sequential interviews conducted at distinct hospitals across the country, the uniformed concern forwarded by doctors is the meager income they are earning as their role is pivotal and risky towards diligently serving the nation. It was really pathetic when a dedicated young doctor disclosed that he will even appreciate Le 15 Million as his monthly salary devoid of the instrumental role they are playing in other to save the lives of even the bad decision makers.
The people of this nation through SEM are currently comparing the substantial salary President Bio’s government is lavishing on ministers, especially those dormant ones as against the pittance they are offering to the committed and dedicated doctors who have sacrificed their lives and quality time to save humanity, with huge amount spent on robust training for quite a long period of time. In another emotional encounter by SEM, another astute young female doctor exclaimed that if Ministers are paid Le 20 Million with possible augmentation to Le 40 Million according to the 2019 budget, why not the Doctors. It was also realized that Heads of Parastatals/ Agencies are fabulously paid whilst the Medical Practitioners are neglected.
On the aforementioned date, an experienced doctor amongst the Medical practitioners revealed that Health is Wealth, stressing on the fact that all other sectors within the economy could not function effectively and efficiently without thorough medical attention provided to them. In consonance with the sensitive roles they are exerting in order to better and continuously serve humanity with high level of professionalism, they should be highly motivated, as the nature of their job needs perfect concentration with very little or no mistake at all.
Interestingly but painfully, most Sierra Leoneans are containing fear as to whether their Medical Doctors and other relevant national servants will one day leave their respective occupations for politics, simply because it is the politicians that are amassing national wealth by extravagantly spending tax payers’ money without providing comprehensive accounts.
