Sea Coach Express To Embark On Free Eye Clinic In Communities

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) coupled with God fearing movement, the management of Sea Coach Express (SCE) in collaboration with the United Methodist Church (UMC) Eye Hospital at Kissy has on Monday 26th November 2018 held a press conference at its headquarters in Aberdeen  to update Journalists about the upcoming  Free Eye Clinic  to four targeted coastal communities which includes, Aberdeen, Lungi, Jui , No 2 River and Bonthe District.  (Photo:  Head of media, Jay Tel, UMC Hospital Admin, James Abu, Hospital Optician, Ebu B Gasto)

According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Olusegun Jaji, Sea Coach Express has been doing this free eye clinic for the past years now at the Aberdeen community but this one will be expanded and that this is the fourth round of the free eye clinic activities nothing that the exercise is aim at targeting over 2,000 eye patients. He said the eye clinic will be targeting community centers like the Aberdeen Community Centre, Lungi Community Centre, Jui Community Centre, No 2 River Community Centre and two chiefdoms in Bonthe namely the Sogbeni Chiefdom and Jong Chiefdom on specific dates and time.

“I am doing this gesture out of humanitarian feelings without any external support and that the Eye is one of the key sensitive organs in human being which needs great care. I was once a victim with vision problem at the UMC Eye Hospital where I witness over 1,000 eye victims with poor conditions. I paid over $1,000 to the hospital by then for their treatments including eye surgery and also distributed free glasses to patients, and since then I decided to sponsor free eye activities under Sea Coach Express,” Mr. Jaji noted.

The CEO emphasized the importance of the free eye clinic to the extent that he said it will cover many slum areas along the coastal area with quality eye service delivered by eye experts and admonished residents of these communities to come on board for early free registration, examination and treatment costs, as well as glasses and free treatment for surgery patients.

Mr .Jaji continued that the exercise is not only to fulfill Corporate Social Responsibilities but also to demonstrate commitment on saving lives of fellow human and that eyesight is the Window for planet earth which any human being would not want to lose.

Speaking on behalf of UMC Eye Hospital, the Admin Officer, James Abu said Sea Coach Express management has embark on this live saving exercise for long time now but this they decided to collaborate solidly with the Hospital in a bid to save more lives.

He appealed to residents of the targeted communities to make use of this golden opportunity and that the management of Sea Coach Express has prepared everything but people must go for registration because according to him, the exercise has deadline dates.

On his own side, the Councilor of Ward 443 at constituency 131, Ahmed Karim Bangura expressed happiness to Sea Coach Express for promoting the Aberdeen community with Free Eye Clinic for over three years now and that the Aberdeen residents has always being appreciative of the gesture.
