Africell Promotes Arkman’s Annual Beach Fiesta
With support from the leading mobile company, Africell, the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs in collaboration with Arkman Music proudly present Arkman on Arkman Annual Beach Fiesta and Tourism/Cultural Exhibition on the theme “Promoting free education through tourism”.
Speaking at a press conference held at the ministry’s conference room on October 30th 2018, the Minister of Tourism, Madam Memunatu B. Pratt reiterated that Sierra Leone is at the cross roads on entertainment adding, it is the first time in the history of Sierra Leone for a Government to prioritize entertainment to improve lives of people in the industry.
“Sierra Leoneans like to recreate themselves with good music”, she told her audience and emphasized that as a ministry, they are trying to lay foundation and get a better focus to improve the entertainment industry. She spoke on the need and important to improve education among people in the entertainment sector and deliberated on the ministry’s desire to promote talented young people in the industry.
She frowned at the manner in which good music are pirated at the expense of the musicians and promised to go heavily by next year and emphasized on the plan to create a commission of entertainment.
She stressed that they would come full force in the entertainment industry in collaboration with partnership. “I love Arkman’s music, it is good for all of us to support him in his beach fiesta”, she told Journalists and mentioned that they have given Arkman clearance for January 1st 2019 to stage his beach fiesta. Madam Pratt maintained that they are supporting Arkman because he is doing good thing for the people in the country and advanced that good music is a source of stress reduction.
She bestowed confidence on Arkman that she would be in the forefront of the show and encouraged him to continue with his good work and describe Arkman’s style of singing as live music.
In his statement, the Sierra Leone finest musician, Abdul Razak Kanu aka Arkman expressed thankfulness to the Minister for her unflinching support and pledged that Arkman music would continue to work with the Ministry to push tourism and education.
He said this year’s Arkman’s musical concert would be different being that he said; he wanted to see how best he could promote the country’s beautiful culture.
The Director of Culture in the Ministry of Tourism, Foday Jalloh said the meeting was not only designed for Arkman but for the promotion of the country’s entertainment industry and spoke about the good work the Minister has done within few months.
“We will look at the laws than governed tourism and the entertainment industry”, he explained and emphasized that with the development of domestic tourism, they would be able to attract international tourism. He dilated that the entertainment industry is at the bottom of the heart of the tourism minister.
In his presentation, the Chairman of the event, Abdul Karim Kanu aka ‘Karismatic’ who also doubles as Manager for Arkman emphasized on the great role tourism and entertainment is playing in the country’s development.
He pointed out that last year’s Arkman Hold Somebody Beach Fiesta was not only celebrated but also attracted local and international tourists and spoke about the rich cultural heritage the country endowed. “Arkman is one of the Africell Brand Ambassadors”, he told listeners.
He stated that Arkman’s Vanity track was used to sensitized school pupils on the need to focus on education adding that Arkman is a philanthropist and has succeeded in touching lives of people.
