Geed Foundation Launches School Feeding Program
A humanitarian relief organization, Gilo Education and Economic Development (Geed Foundation) with funds provided by the Good News Prayer Group (GNPG) has launched school feeding program for school children in the Kings and Queens Preparatory School at Monkey Bush-Benguema-Waterloo.
The occasion which attracted high number of school children, the Gilpin Family, parents, Headmen, teachers and the media was organized on Saturday June 16th 2018.
Delivering keynote address, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer for Geed Foundation, Dr. Ekundayo Walton Gilpin spoke on the important to help each other and urged all to prepare for the hereafter because he said, the world is a journey.
“I heard about the problems of widows, the lack of health facility, vulnerability among children and women and I think about how to help this community”, Dr. Gilpin told the gathering and discussed on the need to create a comfortable life for the children so that they would not blame us tomorrow.
He said as an organization, Dr. Gilpin said they are also helping parents with micro-credit facility to properly take care of the children and described the lack of basic facilities like schools, health centres as major challenge.
Dr. Gilpin encouraged to believe in themselves and work together so achieve a common goal and stressed that he wants to see Sierra Leone rank from bottom of global human development index to the top. “I want to see this vulnerable community produce good people that would be admired across the world”, the CEO thrilled the crowd.
He encouraged parents and children to work hard because he said; with God nothing is impossible and expounded that God gives man power to conquer dominion.
Speaking on behalf of Good News Prayer Group, Leader, Mrs. Gilpin maintained that they were joyful to be part of the occasion adding that they had served GNPG for over 42 years. “This foundation is an organ of the prayer group”, Mrs. Gilpin Maintained and prayed for the country’s development.
She discussed that the GNPG which she said based in London has joined hands together to feed Geed Foundation children and admonished inhabitants to be as one and continue praying for Dr. Gilpin for God to expand his vision to do more for this poor community.
Presenting overview of Geed Foundation Project from 2010 to date, the Coordinator of the foundation, Mr. Daniel Bassie who also doubled as Chairman of the occasion said the community was covered with thick forests and disclosed that many community children and outsiders have benefitted immensely from Dr. Gilpin’s scholarship scheme.
He said Dr. Gilpin has created many development activities since his arrival in 2010; he brought women together to form themselves into groups and helped them through micro credit. He therefore called on community people to support the project and prayed for God’s elevation.
Chief Pa Alimamy Kompa Bangura No1. Said only Dr. Gilpin could wipe tears in their eyes after a long battle to protect the vast area of land and appealed to Dr. Gilpin to help construct a health centre to save lives of mothers and children and lauded the Gilpin family for their initiative to take development in their community.
Chairlady for the micro-credit scheme, Mariatu Kamara spoke about the way and manner Dr. Gilpin has helped changed lives of over 50 women in Waterloo through the micro-credit project and called on the CEO to help relieve widows from their abject poverty and suffering and gave glory to God for the continue elevation of Dr. Gilpin.
Father of CEO, Pa Gilpin performed the formal opening of the Kings and Queens School toilet, a project also funded by Geed Foundation.
Headman for Monkey Bush, Chief Ibrahim Bobor Conteh delivered vote of thanks while the ceremony was climaxed by a welcome song by the pupils.
