Bio’s Free Education Starts September
President Julius Maada Bio has promised the nation that the free education from primary to senior secondary schools will commence in September, next academic year.
Addressing Parliament yesterday, President Bio boasted of having the international support to boost the free education project and promised to boost the moral of teachers, saying that children of teachers with ten years’ experience will enjoy free university education.
President Bio stated that his Government will commit almost 20% of the national budget to increase access to free quality education. He also maintained that his Government will review the mines and mineral acts of 2009, mining lease agreement and the enactment of an extractive bill to be in line with international best practice.
He also spoke on job creation without ethnic bias and spoke on the strict implementation of tax laws and the harmonization of the wage bill and concluded by thanking the people of Sierra Leone for his election to the Presidency.
