Election Update – Partial Results Still Trickling In

9 March 2018 – The Results So Far only Portray our Ethnic Compositions and Clannish Thinking. (Photo: Idrissa Conteh, author)

Total number of parliamentary seats: 132

APC wins 71
SLPP 45
NGC 3
C4C 7
Independent 6

Total – 132 seats

My prediction that the APC would win all the seats in the Northern Province and the Western Area is not accurate. I apologise.

The APC has lost a total of 7 seats in its strongholds:

Western Area 3
Kambia 3
Falaba 1

My prediction is only about 96% accurate.

The C4C won 7out of 9 parliamentary seats in Kono. There is a rejection of both the NGC and SLPP in Kono land. The APC took the balance 2 seats as a consolation.

The SLPP has lost 6 seats to independent candidates in Kailahun and Kenema districts.

All the results clearly translate our clannish thinking.

The results for the presidency are still being counted.

The wind however continues to blow in favour of the ruling APC party.

Even if all the opposition parties were to consolidate against the APC, I don’t know what difference it would make.

The elections are said to be so far free, fair, independent and credible apart from sporadic acts of violence and police harassments earlier reported.
