Sierra Express Media Editor Attacked in broad-daylight
At 9:00 a.m. this morning, the editor of Sierra Express Media (SEM), Ibrahim Alusine Kamara (in photo), was attacked by thieves around Fire Borne along Fouray Bay Road in the Central part of Freetown.
Kamara left his home at Brima Lane, Wellington in the Eastern part of Freetown, in the early hours for work. On his way onboard a Poda Poda to Eastern Police in the Central part of Freetown, the Poda Poda unfortunately stopped at a common ground popularly known as Fire Borne (halfway being an unlawful crime) and Kamara headed to board a taxi to Pademba Rd & Liverpool Street junction where SEM is situated, when he was aggressively attacked by three thieves.
While walking to get a taxi, he felt someone touch on his backpack and turned to see a huge black fellow as one of the thieves. Kamara decided to go to cross the street to avoid them but the same man pursued him with false accusation that Ibrahim had willfully hit him, and the thief immediately grabbed Kamara and brutally beat his face, and then stabbed him in the head, whereupon our editor sustained serious injuries.
As the attacker and his associates tried to escape they were chased by Ibrahim and group of onlookers, the thug who carried out the attack was caught, while the other two escaped as they were less in the action.
Kamara’s attacker was man-handled on the spot and later handled over to the Police at the Eastern Police Division. The thug is now helping the Police for further investigation while our Editor, Ibrahim Alusine Kamara was given a medical paper from the Police to seek a Doctor’s medical report.
