ISSA Specialists Grace NASSIT three Day Conference
The International Social Security Association (ISSA) has graced the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) on a three Days Membership Conference on their 15th Anniversary celebrations of their 2nd Members Conference to reflect on Challenges and success been made so far since its establishment, at the Bintumani International Conference Centre Aberdeen in Freetown on Tuesday, 10th October 2017.
The event attracted Government administrators, Vice President Ambassador Victor Bockarie Foh, Minister of Labor & Social Security, Mathew Teambo and International Diplomats like the World Bank representative from New York City, Representatives from Rwanda, Kenya, Gambia, and representatives from Social Security institutions across the Sub-region and Social Security Experts from ILO, NASSIT Board of Trustees among others.
According to the Liaison Officer, ISSA West Africa, Mr. M. Bamba Amed first of all commend and congratulate NASSIT for accomplishing their first 15 years beneficiary scheme with the theme: ‘NASSIT At 15: Harnessing the Gains, Challenges and Opportunities Towards Improved Service Delivery,’ he noted and dilated that this day is an important Date for the people of Sierra Leone, the National Social Security and Insurance Trust.
He continue that ISSA is formed to promotes Social Security issues throughout the World with defines management standards for Social Security institutions noting that they also accompanied them in fulfilling their objectives which he said is to provide training for Managing Directors, Technicians and other relevant authorities of the Scheme.
He also mentions that NASSIT is one of the most active members of this International institution which has memberships all over the Globe adding that the civilized people of Sierra Leone have already hosted two continental event of ISSA with Experts from African Countries to exchanged views, ideas on the challenges faced with our institutions, he affirmed.
The West Africa Liaison Officer went further to assured Sierra Leoneans that with the tangible evidence made by NASSIT, they (ISSA) Knows that the institution has gone too far to Sustain Social Security Schemes across the country with all the Support its needs from Government, especially From President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma who is been represented by the Honorable Vice President of the Sierra Leone, Ambassador Dr. Victor Bockarie Foe due to other Important Government Function or duty.
He therefore expressed Sincere Gratitude and appreciation to the Vice President on behalf of the People of Sierra Leone and also to the Director General of NASSIT with his closest collaborators and even all the staff of the institution for a Job well done.
He concluded by asking the Vice President to extend his profound gratitude to Sierra Leoneans for their fraternal welcome they give him and his delegation prior to the three Days Conference marking 15th Anniversary Celebrations for Excellent Service.
Giving a brief background of NASSIT, Director General, Joseph Sedu Mans Jr, expressed satisfaction over the arrival of high esteemed ISSA Experts and other International dignitaries on the Occasion of the State Opening of the 2nd Members Conference of NASSIT Held at the Bintumani International Conference Centre in Freetown to show the level of Transparency and Accountability of the Scheme adding that the Day is a special day for all beautiful institution-NASSIT. He said some fifteen years ago, the Government and People of Sierra Leone took a breath-taking decision to establish a Social Security Scheme that would cater for the retirement and other benefits of the people of this country.
He commend the Government of Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma for accepting their invitation to deliver the key note address on this auspicious occasion noting that they would Endeavour to give a comprehensive account of their fifteen years of stewardship to our most import category of stakeholders-the esteemed members of the scheme.
He however emphasized the important of the conference which he said seeks to achieve three fundamental objectives to create a forum for the exchange of views and experiences with other sister institutions.
The Director General therefore expressed his deepest gratitude on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Management and staff of NASSIT adding that he will also want to extend a hearty welcome to all their invitees, particularly esteemed members and their employers from across the country.
