The recognition came in the wake of the country’s participation at the Exhibition at the Bexco International Conference Centre where a pavilion was installed to showcase our potentials in the ICT Sector.
Speaking with journalists at the Centre, Sierra Leone’s Head of delegation, Hon. Sidi Mohamed Tunis, doubling as Minority Whip who replaced the Minister of Information and Communication, Mohamed Bangura said this was the first time the country is participating in such a conference and with a pavilion, that showcases the country’s potential in the ICT Sector. This, he said has touched the attention of the ITU to the extent of recognizing Sierra Leone as an emerging economy with an overwhelming young population, a potential for the reduction of poverty.
The ITU has also acclaimed NATCOM Chairman, Momoh Kemoh Konte for his leadership qualities that have made the Commission very effective in its operations.
The Exhibition is organized once every four years to provide a platform for mobile operators and regulators to showcase their ICT Potentials by way of attracting direct foreign investment.
