13 African countries sign declaration on fisheries sector

“Recognizing the importance of fishing as a major source of socio-economic development, food and nutritional security to the growing population of coastal communities and beyond, a joint conference of West African ministries in charge of fisheries – thirteen countries in all – came together in Nouakchott to sign a declaration (see attached) to set strategic directions for the near future of the fisheries sector in the region. The importance of regional cooperation was very much emphasized, including in negotiation with foreign fleets.”  Click on link below.
