Presidency is a serious business – says John Bonoh Sisay

One of the aspirants for the flagbearship of the All Peoples Congress (APC) party, John Bonoh Sisay on his familiarization tours in the northern region where he provided Le 600 million in support of commerce and education stated, “politics is a serious business.”

John Bonoh Sisay has sent another warning shot to others contesting for the APC party flagbearship when he disclosed that the Presidency of Sierra Leone cannot be left in the hands of those who cannot live up to the expectations of the masses, adding, “the Presidency is a very serious business, you will be dealing with the lives of millions of people and this means you will be assessed and graded from different angles. If you are not a serious person, the entire nation will suffer.”

This statement came days after he had also asked his opponents who are currently serving in government positions to resign and join the race.

According to John Bonoh Sisay, he provided over Le600 million as micro credit loans and scholarships to vulnerable groups in the Northern Region as the tour was to meet with delegates and top party people in the region turned out to be a massive event that saw thousands of APC party supporters endorsing his candidacy.

His message apparently resonated with the popular Temne adage, “Kom Po Yor-a? (What have you done or accomplished?).

John Sisay said that he believed some of those posing as candidates for the APC cannot sustain the legacies of President Ernest Bai Koroma noting, “they know the Presidency is for people with a proven track record. The APC party is not a greedy party and we all should share. We should not support people because of their good looks but what they are capable of doing.”

He revealed his readiness to ensure the All People’s Congress remains in power and to this end, he called on Sierra Leoneans to embrace change by wholeheartedly supporting the APC party which he described as the only serious party in Sierra Leone.

“I wish to see that President Ernest Bai Koroma continue his good works because I am development oriented and the facts are there for all to see.”

The next leg of his consultative tour will be the South and Eastern Regions where plans are afoot to accord him another rousing welcome.
