Marampa Iron Ore Presents Over Le. 200M For Port Loko
The Marampa Iron Ore Company based in Lunsar in the Port Loko District, Sierra Express Media has been informed, has in recent times invested a total of two hundred million Leones on infrastructure and other development in the Port Loko district, a move government officials and Parliamentarians have lauded and described as invaluable to the development aspirations of the district.
Darren Rotcliff working on the management team of the company in Lunsar informed Sierra Express Media that the company is bent on fulfilling its corporate social responsibility in its area of operations as it has taken on rehabilitation and construction of much needed infrastructure in Marampa Chiefdom Port Loko District.
To date Sierra Express has been able to learn from local authorities and the company people that Marampa Iron Ore Ltd has spent as part of its corporate social venture Le, 42 million on the rehabilitation of the Lunsar Health Centre, Le 32 million on the Mamusa Health Centre, Le 30 million on the police division in the district, Le 42 million on the Marampa Islamic Secondary School, Le 21, 250,000 on the Lunsar Community Centre and  Le 10 million on the Lunsar Market. Rowtcliff added that about Le 25million was offered by the company to rehabilitate the main roundabout at Lunsar revealing that the company provides food work for the youths and with tools so that they are able to engage themselves meaningfully.
Talking to the Social Community Development Officer and head of the Security Unit Australian born Darren Rowtcliff, it was understood that the company is currently working with the youths of Marampa Chiefdom and other part of Lunsar to rehabilitate and build structures that will be of assistance to community infrastructural development.
The Marampa Iron ore Company, was formerly known as the Sierra Leone Diamond Company-SLDC latter changed to Africa Mining Company but its now known as the Marampa Iron Ore Company. Four chiefdoms according to Rowtcliff are going to benefit from development packages the company has set aside for its concession area in the Port Loko District. They are Buya Romenday, Masimrah, Mafokie and TMS Chiefdom.
According to Mr. Rowtcliff, the round about is structured in a way that allows people to relax and enjoy themselves and will also serve as a meeting point for young people.
“All other development ventures undertaken by our company is geared towards making life in the District more comfortable. Talking on the essence of the rehabilitation and empowerment of the Police Division, the Head of Security said it is because law and order is very important in any country and to increase the moral of the police in the community.”
