Income Tax Commission engages Business Stakeholders in Bo District
In the bid to revamp the operational activities between the Income Tax Board of Appellate Commissioners and Business Communities, the Commission on Wednesday the 27th of January 2016 commenced a familiarization tour with Business Stakeholders in the Southern part of Sierra Leone to get Business people take advantage of what the Commission offers. Citing the purpose of the Familiarization Tour, the Public Relations Manager for the Income Tax Board of Affiliate Commissioners and Outreach Officer Mr. Siman Allie Mans-Conteh, Esq maintained that “since the establishment of this institution over sixteen years now it has not be really effective as it should be for the business communities, noting that for any society to boost its democratic standing it needs to create such a facility for them to play pivotal role by helping to boost the economy of the country. The Commission is for Business people to file in any complaint against the National Revenue Authority when you are disadvantaged and over tax.”
Speaking on behalf of the Business Stakeholders in Bo District, Mr. Abdalha Barrie noted that “this is news as it has been long overdue, we suffered for far too long. Mr. Manager this is just a minority number of business stakeholders gathered here, we want to educate the larger membership. Based on the presentation made we are happy for it. In 2015 there was an issue in Bo wherein some of us became victims of tax but we had no knowledge about where to channel our complaint and as a result most businesses where closed by NRA; though we made a formal complaint up until now no positive response has been received.”
