Allen Town to get orphanage
A think-tank and community interest organization, The People Society has been formed in Freetown to contribute in the development of ideas and public policies. The organization will also prompt interventions in people’s lives through supporting educational services, health, social care and promoting good governance for sustainable development. According to Coordinator of The People Society, Mr. Mohamed Umarr Kamara, the organization will support schools, health and social care settings especially vulnerable children like orphans and the disabled.
He revealed that they intend to open an orphanage at Allen Town in the east end of Freetown. He also disclosed that they will engage in conversations with communities for deeper understanding of issues concerning the communities.
Mr. Mohamed Umarr Kamara further disclosed that they will also promote social enterprise within communities for policy enhancement, noting that as a think-thank, they will undertake public research in various areas like education, health, economics, social justice and agriculture for sustainable development, equality of opportunities and fairness and undertake collective action for public participation and good governance.
“We will aim to influence the ideas of good governance and policies of political parties,” he concluded.
