Turay said he was very happy to be a guest of the Mayor and took the opportunity to encourage those present to go to Sierra Leone in order to help boost the country’s economy through investment.
He said actions have already been taken by the government of President Koroma to address the issue of corruption through the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) – adding that corruption and trafficking of money are now serious criminal offences in Sierra Leone.
The High Commissioner also said that a presidential decree has made it possible for people wanting to set up business in Sierra Leone to have their documents processed within a 48-hour period.
The High Commissioner presented the Investment book from the Sierra Leone Investment Promotion Agency which features investment opportunities in Sierra Leone.
Earlier, the Mayor of Borough of Barnet Councillor Brian Coleman, expressed delight in hosting the High Commissioner and his entourage.
He disclosed that there were quite a good number of Sierra Leoneans within the Barnet Borough – describing them as very peaceful and law-abiding nationals.
Councillor Brian later took the High Commissioner on a conducted tour of his chambers and explained some of his duties working in the Borough. But that was after presenting a gift to the High Commissioner.
Other distinguished personalities who witnessed the programme were the Mayor-designate Councillor Finn Anthony, Raine Countess Spencer, Reverend Michael Giles of the Finchley Methodist Church, a black Councillor Agnes Slocombe of Hendon, and few others.
Sierra Leonean-born Reverend Emmanuel Samuel Ndanema, Senior Pastor and Founder of All Nations Pentecostal Church UK, who is also CEO of Solid Rock TND International Limited, who coordinated the programme, thanked the Mayor and his staff for the warm reception they received on behalf of the High Commissioner and his team.
