Parliament impressed with report of Works Committee

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Kombor Kamara representing Constituency 056 in the Port-Loko District noted that the report exercise was done in a joint inspection along side with the Sierra Leone Hosing Corporation (SALHOC) on the state of the OAU Villas as well as visits to all road construction sites including feeder roads, reconstructions rehabilitations, as well maintenance at township level within and across the country.
He informed the Well that the growth of any country largely depends on its infrastructural development. He said as a post conflict nation infrastructural development linking villages, towns as well as cities is very significant towards the socio-economic development of its people in both social and human development of the country.
He explained that the Committee based its work on the constitutional to mandate to investigate and enquire into all roads projects.
Hon. Kombor Kamara further stated that as Members of Parliament, they have the responsibility to authorize Ministries, Departments and Agencies to prioritise the priority needs in order to ensure the involvement of Paramount Chiefs and Councilors in project implementation for quality service delivery.
He commended President Ernest Bai Koroma for his timeliness during his inspection visit nationwide with special acknowledgment to the media for their wide publication and the Road Maintenance Fund Administration (RMFA) for enabling the Committee to carry out its work.
He also paid tribute to the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) and their Engineers as well as the various contractors who contributed in making the work of the Committee a success.
He promised that they will take into consideration all concerns raised from various speakers as well as their recommendations.
