Benjamin: False step in the right direction

Peace, not politics, should be the watchword for all Sierra Leoneans who have a stake in shaping the destiny of this blessed nation that is being torn apart by rapacious and pitiless manipulators hiding behind a political symbols, making diabolic statements about issues and people only to cause mayhem, as the only situation that generates their survival, such a person is this unknown Benjamin (fortunately not JOB or even or even related to that decent man) that describe a whole executive of a political party as “drunken sailors” for failing to “manipulate” things in his own interest and to his advantage, including, of course his YKK stuff.

It was this column, a week ago, that ask that facts, with regards the registration of Dr. Yumkellah, be supplied. While the disclosure of the USD 20, 000.00 payment to the previous executive is a step in the right direction, the manner of presentation, by describing the present executive that is only trying to ascertain the veracity of what really happened, as “drunken sailors”, clearly states the level of manners in some of the supporters of Dr. Kandeh as an aspiring flagbearer. Benjamin, in the US, should know that the days of hooliganism in the politics of Sierra Leone, marked by threats and intimidation, the Siaka Stevens days or the junta days, are over. Using vulgar languages against those whose decisions about your candidate’s claim of registration only jeopardises the chances of their willingness to continue with their investigations, especially in the light of the present revelations by you, Benjamin of a twenty thousand “deal”.

Now to come to the point, your comment in the salon pride tabloid about the “drunken sailors” not willing to “bend” the rules of the game just to accommodate your candidate clearly shows how unfit you and your candidate are for such as office. Because, while the nest of this nation is fighting against corruption and non-transparency, you have the temerity and guts to accuse the “drunken sailor” for refusing to be corrupt, in the interest of your candidate. Assuming that, from your way of doing things, the leadership of this country is given to you and your candidate, don’t you believe that we would end up getting not “drunken sailors” but a “sunk ship” with no survivors because while the sailors are drunk, the captain (you and your candidate) are so corrupt that, for personal gains, you may land the s hip into an unfriendly weather, resulting in death and destruction to the entire nation; you don’t care, because you have carved for yourself, as all coward Sierra Leoneans, a second home, where you hibernate when the weather gets rough here.

This time, Mr. Benjamin, be sure that no Diaspora misguided tricks will work.

As for Dr. Yumkellah, leave him alone, because all Sierra Leoneans regard him, like Dr. Jona, Dr. Monti Jones, Dr. Joseph Sam Sesay and the others of that stature, not you, of course, as the pride of this nation, i.e Sierra Leoneans whose “nuts spirits” but by sweat and blood of their handwork.

Dr. Yumkella can register even today and become flagbearer the following day. All he needs to do is to campaign the delegates who are not the generality of the noise-making public like you, me, and the rest of the press world.

If you have been reading the Sierra Express, you will have noticed that this columnist i rather sitting on the fence and watching the political dynamics. This column recommended the removal of the miscreant group at the SLPP party headquarters as well as the mounting of investigation into the registration malpractices relating to the issue of Dr. Yumkellah.

For now, Maada seems to be the popular choice for the SLPP but again, in politics, there is the theory of the vocal minority as against the silent majority. Dr. Yumkellah should now be working on captivating the minds of the silent majority, not like the way you are doing, though Benjamin.
