MFC donate Le31.8m learning materials to schools
In order to promote education in the country ,one of the leading agricultural company in the country, Miro Forestry Company has donated Thirty one million, eight hundred and sixty seven thousand Leone worth of school learning materials to schools at Mile 91 and its environ as part of their cooperate social responsibility. Speaking during the donation, the Planning and Admin Manager in the company, Eric Buedi, said this donation is part of their responsibility in the area they are operating which he said they are going to continue to give their responsibility every year, noting that they would build ten community centers in every chiefdom to actualized the community dreams of development. He maintained that education will be their focused to transformed the community.
He note that, in the past years they have been giving scholarship to pupils but has now decided to supply school materials since government is given scholarships to student .He called l on parent to send their children to school so as in the next ten years they would start working in the company.
He pleaded to teachers to handle the books with care especially text book which he said they are very expensive.
He concluded by saying the company would continue their responsibility towards the community.
In his keynote address Hon. Aron Aruna Koroma, thanked the Miro Company for the support they have being given to the chiefdom they are working, he acknowledge that is the first time to have such company in his constituency, he encourage the company to do more and pleaded with community members to support the project.
He pleaded to children from various schools to focus on their education especially the girl child and also said if they are educated they would also work in the company because they are the host.
Madam Mary Jane Lanssana, Procurement and Logistics Manager, Miro Company, said as a company they would continue to support the chiefdoms in their operational lines and pointed out that the trees will be used for electric pole and other furniture, but they are in the early stage she stressed .
Madam Mary maintained that as a woman she wants to see more children to be educated especially the girl child “I want to see girl child to be active part in the development of the country.
One of the beneficiaries Isatu Kamara, thanked the Company for the gesture and also said they would take the learning materials in to good use which she said “education is the key to success”
