Dr. Christian Sesay receives Heritage Heart Award

He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Promotion of Inclusive Education in Africa (CPIE). CPIE is an organization, which seeks to advocate for the most vulnerable populations in Africa – students with disabilities, girls and the illiterates.

Over the years, he has faithfully bared the significant portion of funding the organization  to help make a difference in Africa. CPIE has provided both material and human capacity support in Sierra Leone. It has provided over 200 scholarships to students and has recently embarked on the building of 2 computer labs for students with disabilities at the Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone and also at Tambakha Chiefdom in the northern district of Sierra Leone. Besides all of these, CPIE, under the directives of its charismatic and brilliant Executive Director, provides annual training for teachers providing instructions for students with special needs.

Quite recently, Dr Sesay made dozens of guest appearances on several television and radio programs.  He has been highlighted in different newspapers as “the man with a vision for Sierra Leone” in Sierra Leone. He was recently featured as one of Sierra Leone’s stars by the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service (SLBS) its “Salone Star Parade” Dr Sesay has also been nominated by Walden University as one of this year’s Scholar of Change because of his relentless effort to making a social change for some of the world’s most impoverished.

Dr. Sesay and his organization intend to build vocational institutions in Sierra Leone by 2016 and begin the implementation of its adult literacy programs in the country by the end of 2015. The CPIE Director is a patriotic Sierra Leonean whose passion for the development of the country is next to none. On this day, we salute you sir!
