Lebanese Embassy boosts Foreign Affairs Ministry

The Lebanese Embassy in Sierra Leone continues to demonstrate its generosity to Serra Leoneans. Giving to charity is one of the five “pillars” of Islam, which the Lebanese Embassy has ever since been practicing. As the Holy Month of Ramadan is coming to an end and the Eid-ul-fitri is expected in the coming days, the Lebanese Embassy in Sierra Leone recently donated assorted food items to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for onward distributed to Mosques and Islamic Missions across the country.

This gesture is a way of showing appreciation to Sierra Leoneans and to cement the cordial relationship between the two countries which spans way before independence.

Lebanese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Midal Yehya said that this is not the first donation the embassy has made to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and it won’t be the last to the Muslim Community.

Ambassador Midal Yehya also took the opportunity to wish all Sierra Leoneans Blessed Eid-ul-Fitri and prayed that the Almighty Allah continues to bless this nation and save it from its current Ebola disease predicament.

The Personal Assistant to the Ambassador, Miss Layyal Noureldin said that the assorted food items were donated by Lebanese businesses in Sierra Leone. She affirmed that it is a sign of appreciation to Sierra Leoneans for the friendly relationship they’ve enjoyed and also in doing business in a peaceful and conducive atmosphere.

The PA also revealed that both last year and this year’s donation were made upon the request of the Ministry, stressing that the Embassy was very much glad to act upon the request.

The assorted food items were handed over to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Secretary, Abigail Conteh.

Receiving the items, Abigail Conteh thanked the Lebanese Ambassador and Lebanese community for such a wonderful gesture. She prayed that the relationship between the two countries continue to grow from strength to strength.
