Strasser pays courtesy call on VP Foh

Freetown, July 8 (SLENA) – The ruling All People’s Congress (APC) party under the leadership of His Excellency, President Ernest Bai Koroma government has honoured former Head of State in the Military led government of the National Provisional Ruling Council (NPRC), Retired, Captain Valentine E. Welcoming the former Head of State during a courtesy call on Vice President Victor Foh at his Tower Hill office in Freetown, the Vice President in said their government is and will continue to give respect to anyone who has held higher position especially that of Head of State irrespective of the political divide.

He said he believed that his party under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma who is and will continue to give his best of service to the nation, ensures that respect is given to anyone whom it is due.

Vice President Foh extended a hand of friendship to the former Head of State and promised that their party and government will recognize, honour and give him the respect he deserves.

He said he is making such a statement with the blessings of his boss, President Koroma who will see the Former Head of State after his UN trip in the USA.

He expressed their profound pleasure to the military for recognizing the former Head of State during the decoration ceremony of the newly promoted military officers.

This, the Vice President reiterated, was what every Sierra Leonean should do as it is not enough for the people of this nation to demean, witch hunt, belittle and leave people who have served them in the cold.

The Vice President maintained that he is confident that the country’s constitution which is undergoing a review process will make sufficient provisions for people who have served as Head of State for a period exceeding 12 months to be accorded, respected and supported by the state.

He assured the former military Head of State that their party holds nothing against him and that what happened on the 29th of April 1992 was now history, adding that what they as a responsible government is working on was to make Sierra Leone a better place where everyone will live in peace, earn their living and go without being witch hunted.

He concluded by describing the former military Head of State as a brother and that all the government can do for him is to restore his dignity, love and peace.

In his response, Retired Captain Strasser expressed his profound gratitude to His Excellency, his Vice and the government for giving him such honour.

He told the Vice President that he was pleased when the party emerged as victorious in the last two elections.

He guaranteed that he had no fear that the ruling party has anything against him and that even when he is out there in common places where the ordinary citizens found themselves, he felt no threat.
