MOHS Service Level Agreement Takes Effect

The Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS), fourth Floor, Youyi Building with District Health Management Teams Nationwide, District Councils, Medical Superintendents in hospitals and other health development partners in Sierra Leone are now guided by the “Service Level Agreement” (SLA) principles which seek to address Country ownership, Comprehensiveness, transparency and accountability, appropriate prioritization , efficiency and value for money, quality standard of health care provision and alignment with government priorities.

According to the MOHS Public Relations Officer, Abass Kamara, the reporting requirements, use of government logo and branding, joint monitoring and operational site visits and exit strategy as contained in the SLA came to effect on Friday 3rd July of this year.

He continue that the SLA is a Memorandum of Understanding that will be signed by the ministry and implementing partners prior to implementation of activities in the health sector, adding that the agreement shall be signed at the level of the Chief Medical Officer and above , counter signed by the District Medical Officers of the respective districts.

On behalf of the ministry, Abass Kamara expressed appreciation to development partners for their support in the development of the health sector recovery plan for 2015-2020 and the ongoing effort in the operational planning and resource mobilization to ensure the full implementation of the Service Level Agreement.
