17-year-old Sierra Leonean AFC Liverpool academy attacking midfielder, Raheem Conteh (in photo), has said that he intends to stay longer at Liverpool FC as he has a lot to show the club and its supporters.
“I don’t want a loan move. I want to show them exactly who I am as I have plenty to show,” he stressed.
According to him, he doesn’t want to leave Liverpool one day without not been successful there or having not left a legacy there, saying he wants to leave a mark at the club.
“I’ve been successful playing at conference and non conference leagues until I was spotted. I’d like to be given the opportunity to play, learn and improve, and join this great team. It’s a great team with a great history and I would like to be involved in this team and really push on,” he said.”
Conteh stressed that if given a chance to play, he will always give his best and give everything he got to the team. He added that he was there for one reason – play football at the highest level and make his family proud.
“It is exciting coming here because I know it is a big club with a rich history and I want to be part of something. The fire still burns in me to be a part of it – I want to be part of this club moving in the right direction,” he said.
Raheem who has found a safe haven in Liverpool said he loves football, training and learning, adding that he has learnt a lot out there.
“It opened my eyes to a new way of approaching football and the continental way. I really love the style of play I have learnt since I came here about two years ago. I’m always trying to learn more and pick up new things and improve myself,” he said.
Conteh further noted that no Sierra Leonean has ever played for this great club, saying he is aiming to be the first Sierra Leonean to do so and that it can only be done with hard work and determination.
Raheem who has been promoted to the reserve team B has convinced the entire AFC Liverpool development team with his great football skills.
He was born in Bo and raised at Aberdeen village in Freetown where he played for several local teams during which he was captain of the famous Vodafone FC.
