VP Foh on social mobilization drive in Bo

Addressing his audience at the Bo Community Centre, Vice President Foh expressed his gratitude to the people of Bo city and all local and international partners and the media for their support and effort for putting in place structures to enhance national response towards the fight against the disease and for bringing down the number of new infection cases.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of those who lost their lives by the scourge especially the Ebola frontline workers.
The Hon. Vice President said as the country is now ensuring a robust downward progress in the number of Ebola cases over the past weeks, the people of Bo district should not be complacent, noting that the fight is not yet over until the whole country goes for a period of 42 days and cleared ebola free by World Health Organization.
VP Foh noted that now that the country has entered the end phase in the fight against the deadly Ebola scourge, every Sierra Leonean must be watchful and take actions that will facilitate economic and social recovery.
He called on them to abide by the health emergency laws and the bye-laws put out by the chiefs, adding that they must maintain their surveillance and contact tracing to maintain the no new Ebola infection cases in the district.
He encouraged them to continue to denounce the washing and torching of corpses and the sick. These and other activities, the Vice President said, will guarantee a win in the shortest possible time and will strengthen recovery efforts in the country.
In his home town, Jimmy Bagbo, the Hon. Vice President donated medical facilities and two motor bikes to his people while a similar gesture was done in Limba Bagbo.
Updating the newly appointed Vice President on the Ebola situation in the district, the Bo District Ebola Response Coordinator described the Ebola virus disease as the worse outbreak not only in West Africa but the world as a whole, adding that West Africa and the world were not expecting such a devastating outbreak that has killed thousands of innocent people, including committed health workers.
He said when the Ebola outbreak occurred in the district they registered about 314 confirmed cases of which 164 were male and 180 female.
Bo district, he assured the VP, is committed to the fight for a zero new Ebola cases, adding that they have doubled their efforts in the fight by putting in place certain measures which have enable them to go more than 85 days without any confirmed cases.
He concluded by thanking the international non-governmental organizations for their relentless efforts in bring the number of cases to zero in the district. He also commended Paramount Chiefs and their able chiefs, the district medical staff and all those who endeavoured to bring the number of cases to zero.
Assistant Inspector General of Police, South, Mustapha Kamara briefed the Vice President on the district security status.
