ACC monitors re-verification of health workers in the north
The Northern Regional Office of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has on February 2015 embarked on monitoring the re-verification exercise of health workers in the North.
Launched on the 14th January 2015, the Ebola Response Transparency Initiative (ERTI) has provided the basis for the Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) involvement in this monitoring exercise. Under this initiative, the Task Force established to directly monitor the management of Ebola Funds nationwide has in collaboration with the Northern Region Office traversed the five operational districts to monitor the whole exercise.
The object of the exercise was to ensure transparency in the re-verification process thereby preventing duplication of names, designation and falsification of other relevant documents. During the process, the Commission was tasked with the responsibility to check for the authenticity of Identity Cards of each of the health workers that were being verified, examine the completed verification forms for the name, phone number, signature and if available official stamp of the supervisor certifying the worker. The ACC was to further confirm from the attendance register and staff list of every health facility for each certified worker before allowing the biometric verification to proceed.
Starting on the 5th, the monitoring exercise ended in the Northern Region at Port Loko District on the 9th February 2015. Verification centres include but not limited to the Regional hospital in Makeni, DERC Command Centre in Makeni, DHMT Makeni, Kambia Government hospital, etc.
