To enhance road safety… Patriot Group trains 60 drivers

The training which is part of Patriot Group of Company vision and dream of road safety, professionalism and security for their customers brought a refreshing moment for the drivers.

The training which was facilitated by the Sierra Leone Roads Transport Authority (SLRTA) Training and Coordinator Kolo Kamara bring more light and refreshing for the drivers.

In his address, Mr. Kamara said there is no ordinary driver. He said every driver is important in his filed as Presidents, Queens, Governors among others entrust their lives on a driver to take them from one destination to another shows that driving is important profession.

He went on to say that safety is the main factor any driver should put in their mind, stressing that he is in the training for the drivers to reflect their mind.

“During the cause of driving you pick up more knowledge, all you need to do is to try to advance your knowledge every time even when you are not driving.”

Some of the topics they focus on were: Care and Maintenance, who is a professional driver, defense driving, road signs and log book among others.

The question who is a professional driver Mr. Kamara said, the main thing about professional driver is that a professional drive earns his living out of driving.

“There are private driver while a professional is something you live by.”

He stressed that a professional driver carried more responsibility on both sackological and professional.

“If you drive good is a good name that you and the company will have but if you driving recklessly is a bad name for you and the company.”

He warned the professional drivers not to ever compare themselves with private drivers but if they decide to carry the bad name, it will impact directly to that individual and the family he is taking care of.

“Your attitude should good at all time. The rules and regulation is the next thing you should learn after you begin to move a car from one step to another”

He further disclosed that they have found out that when they say lawlessness on the roads are coming from commercial drivers and of late the Okada riders.

He further stated that every learning situation is an advantage for any driver. He encouraged them to exercise patience on the road, for them to humble themselves at all time on the road through that they will be able to achieve quiet a lot.

Africell’s Administrative Director, Abdul Azizi Gabisi commended Patriot Group for its novelty in enhancing road safety and further detailed the contractual relationship between Patriot Group of Company as the leading service provider and the leading GSM operator in the country, Africell.

Group of Company Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Eddie Thomas said the training is part of their safety and security measure for them to serve their customers to the best of their ability at all time.

He said safety driving is very important for professional drivers and the companies and other people are looking at them as the only people that can take them safe and sound in any journey.

Mr. Thomas went on to say that they also want the drivers to get all the latest update and policy of the driving profession and the Road Transport Authority safety policy.

He disclosed that sixty professional drivers were targeted, “it is very important for them to upgrade and for them to get the awareness to prevent accident at all time.

During the four years of refreshers training, Mr. Thomas said they have got a great improvement from the drivers. He said Patriot Group will continue to organize such training as a way of up keeping and updating the drivers.

The drivers described the training as timely more especially when there are some difficulties on the road.

They thanked the CEO of Patriot Group of Company for such training and for them to up keep their job in that Company. They said only those with safety and educational knowledge will do such for them.

They said the training will go a long way for them and they have learned new rules and regulation on the road.

The professional drivers were given forty objective questions to answer among other thing.
